І. Организационный момент

1) Объявление темы и цели урока

Звучит аудиозапись стиха Р. Бернса “My Hearts in the Highlands”.

My heart’s in the Highlands, my heart is not here,

My heart’s in the Highlands a-chasing the deer,

A-chasing the wild deer and following the roe -

My heart’s in the Highlands, wherever I go!

Teacher: You’ve just heard some lines from the poem, written by R. Burns. This famous poet loved his Motherland and admired its beauty. Do you know where he was born? (Expected answer: In Scotland)

Yes, he was the Scottish and wrote about Scotland. This is a part of the country we are going to speak about. Can you guess the topic of our lesson? (Expected answer: Great Britain). Can you name other 3 parts? (Expected answer: England, Wales, Northern Ireland). The best way to get to know other country is to visit it. So I propose you to make an imaginary tour to Great Britain.

2) Введение в иноязычную атмосферу.

You’ll be organized in groups of 3. Each group will get a set of pictures, the UK Information Guide and a fact file. Your task is to represent one part of Great Britain. You should also fill in this fact file. At first only 1 column which concerns your country. And during other teams’ presentations you’ll fill in other columns.
