Урок английского языка по теме «Американские праздники», 6 класс

Учебник: Аяпова Т., Абильдаева З. Английский язык для 6 класса.

Цели: Совершенствование речевых навыков чтения и говорения по теме.

Задачи:

  • Ознакомить с новыми лексическими единицами по теме.

  • Повторить образование порядковых числительных, дат.

  • Учить читать текст о праздниках с целью полного понимания информации, выполнять задания к тексту, вести обсуждение в паре (группе).

  • Развивать способности к догадке.

  • Воспитывать уважительное, толерантное отношение к чужой культуре.

Оснащение урока: слайд-программа в новой лексикой по теме, карточки, кроссворд


Ход урока

1. Организационно-мотивационный этап.

T: Last time you read about famous sights and people of the USA.

Проверка ДЗ: What can you tell about the Statue of Liberty, Walt Disney, G.Washington? (P1P2P3)

Выход на тему: What American holidays do you know?

We'll read and learn some new facts about holidays of America. You'll have to learn new words, discuss the holidays.


2. Операционный этап.

1) Reading and speaking

a) Look through the text and name the holidays.

You'll read about some holidays of the USA but first let's learn some words: a roast turkey, potatoes and a pumpkin pie, small gifts, candy (slides)


b) Read the new words after me, practise pronunciation (cards) T-Cl; P-P in groups


c) Work in 3 groups:

G1 - Read the text and check your understanding. Write true (+) or false (-). Correct the false sentences. (cамоконтроль) 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 +

G2 - Read and answer the questions (индивидуально, РР, потом в группе: прием Подумай-в паре-поделись)

G3 - Read and divide the sentences in 2 groups: about Halloween (1,4,6,8,9,10) and Thanksgiving Day (2,3,5,7). (Работа с карточками или интерактивной доской)


d) Let's check up the tasks.

Во время ответов все группы слушают друг друга, могут дополнять или корректировать ответы, получают жетоны.

  • What is common for both holidays? (а pumkin)

  • What is the difference between these holidays? (a family holiday and for children)

3. Этап рефлексии

Tell the class what you have learnt about the American holidays.

What holidays do we celebrate in our country? When?

Find the words in the chart: Halloween, Christmas, turkey, pudding, costume, gift, firework, roast, pumpkin, candies. (in groups)

Holidays in the USA

There are a lot of traditional holidays in the USA.

Thanksgiving Day is a national tradition. They have a roast turkey, potatoes and a pumpkin pie. The people thank each other, the nation and the God. They together give thanks for the good things they have. Americans celebrate this holiday on the fourth Thursday in November.

On October 31 American children dress up in funny or scary costumes and celebrate Halloween. Children knock on their neighbour doors and ask: trick or treat? The neighbours give them small gifts, candy or money.
