Урок-игра «Путешествие в Лондон»

(конспект открытого урока по английскому языку в 5 классе

по теме «Виды Лондона»)


Цели урока:

Обучающая:

  • расширение лингвистического кругозора учащихся, приобретение знаний о Великобритании.

  • активизировать лексику по теме «Лондон».

Развивающая:

  • Развитие умения аудировать с целью извлечения развитие языковых способностей  учащихся, умения самостоятельной работы, творческого мышления, готовности к коммуникации.

Воспитывающая:

  • прививать интерес к культуре, традициям, достопримечательностям англоязычных стран.

  • воспитывать умение работать в коллективе, группе, паре.

Оборудование:

  • мультимедийный проектор,

  • программа Microsoft PowerPoint

  • карточки с предложениями

  • тесты,

  • кроссворды для каждой команды.



Ход урока

1. Организационный момент.

Good morning, our dear friends! We have spoken much about places of interest of London. Today we suggest you to travel around the capital of Great Britain. Two teams will take part in our game. You should be very attentive today and each team will get a point for the correct answer. Be ready to get as much points as you can. At the end of the lesson, we’ll count them and see who has got more points. Let’s start our lesson!

-It’s time to introduce your team. Who is the captain of the 1st team? What is the name of your team?

2. Речевая разминка

Now let’s remember the information about London sights that we have learnt during our lessons. We are going to ask you some questions and your task is to answer them. We are sure you will answer all of them! The teams should answer our questions in turn. Listen to the first question.

  • What is the name of the famous clock in London? (Big Ben)

  • Where does Big Ben stand? (Near the Houses of Parliament)

  • How often can you hear Big Ben? (Every hour)

  • Where do the Houses of Parliament stand? (Besides the river Thames)

  • What did King Edward build in 1065? (Westminster Abbey)

  • Who founded Westminster Abbey? (St. Peter)

  • Does the Queen of England live in the Tower? (She doesn’t live in the Tower)

  • Where does the Queen stay when she is in London? (In Buckingham Palace)

  • Where does the coronation of all British Kings and Queens take place? (Westminster Abbey)

  • What is the oldest part of the Tower of London? (The White Tower)

For both teams:

  • What places of London do you like to visit? And why

You can see the pictures of some places in London on the blackboard. Now listen to my stories and name them.

1). It is very old. It has a long and cruel history. You can see it from the river Thames. It is not just one building. Many years the Kings and the Queens of Britain lived in this place. (The Tower of London)

2) It stands near the Houses of Parliament. It is really a bell. It weighs 13,720 kilograms. It has a deep tone and you can hear it on the radio. It is a famous clock. (Big Ben)

3) It is not far from the Houses of Parliament. It is a symbol of England. It was founded by St. Peter and built by King Edward in 1065. Some famous people are buried there. (Westminster Abbey)

4) They stand besides the river Thames. You can also see them from Westminster Abbey. The country’s leaders speak at this place. The famous clock Big Ben stands near them. (The Houses of Parliament)

- And now each team has some cards with sentences on the tables. Your task is – arrange the sentences in a logical order and act out the dialogue. Whose team will be the best?

  1. You are welcome. Have a nice day.

  2. Good. Go along that street it will lead you to Trafalgar Square.

  3. Yes, I can.

  4. Oh, it’s very easy. Can you see that wide street over there?

  5. Thank you very much.

  6. Excuse me, could you tell me how to get to Trafalgar Square.
