  1. Org. moment.

  • What date is it today?

  • What month is it now?

  • What day is it today?

  • What season is it now?

  • Is it cold or warm today?

  • What are you good at? I am good at English.

  • What was your homework?

  1. Check h/w.

  • Your homework was to repeat fractions, percentage and dates.

  • Now we shall revise it.

  • Who will tell me in English the following dates: 1996, 1569, 2030, 1972.

  • Fractions: ¼ - a quarter, 2/4 – two quarters, 4/3 – four thirds

  • Decimals and percentage: 4.3 – four point three; 16.25 – sixteen point two five; 50% - fifty percent.

  1. Now we continue our lesson. The theme of our lesson is called: “If I were a millionaire”. Open your notebooks and write down the date. Today we must study first conditional and second conditional. Look at the interactive board and listen to me.

The First Conditional is used in the following way: Future Simple + if + Present Simple.
(I’ll stay if it rains)

The Second Conditional expresses an unreal situation and its result.

If + Past Simple + would + Infinitive.

(If I ate cake, I would get fat)

  1. Let’s do Ex.3. Jennifer is going to have a holiday next week. What will she do? She can’t decide. Make sentences (working at the blackboard).

For example: 1. If she goes abroad, she’ll spend a lot of money.

2. If she stays at home, she’ll be bored.

3. If she goes abroad, she’ll see a lot of interesting places.

4. If she stays at home, she’ll watch TV all day.

  1. Look at the picture and complete the diagram. Complete the sentences in the second conditional.

I [pic] [pic] [pic] would live in a nice house. I would have “gold fish”.

If I won a lottery…

[pic] I would travel all over the world.

I [pic] [pic] [pic] would have a beautiful yacht. I would play golf.

I [pic] would buy a car.

I would have a private plane.

  1. Continue our lesson, read the text about Bolat and how he describes his life and dream. Ex.5. You must find the sentences in the second conditional from the text, translate and short retell.

  2. Now let’s divide into 2 groups. The first group must find the sentences in the first conditional. The second group must find the sentences in the second conditional.

  1. … I would (second cond.)

  2. … I will (first cond.)

  3. … I find (first cond.)

  4. … I stop (first cond.)

  5. … would (second cond.)

  6. … would (second cond.)

The first group has won. Well done!

  1. The next task: put the verbs in brackets in the correct form; past simple or would. Ex.10.

  2. Ask and answer the questions about Bolat. Ex.6.

  • Would he live in a small flat?

  • No, he wouldn’t. He would live in a big house.

  • Would his mother stay at home?

  • No, she wouldn’t. She would have and interesting job.

  • Would he and his sister go to ordinary school?

  • No, they wouldn’t. They would go to a private school.

  1. H/w: read the rules about first conditional and second conditional at page 192.

  2. Your marks for the lesson …

  3. Conclusion: Today we have studied first conditional and second conditional. And now we know how to use them.
