Ход урока-проекта

1. Вступительное слово учителя:

Nowadays science and technology are developing intensively. There are many global problems which should be solved by all means. And it is the task of the young people to solve all these problems. To have the opportunity to take part in solving these problems, in changing the world to the best they must study well. So the role of school is very great. Students go to school to get knowledge. At school students not only study, they communicate with other students, have extracurricular activities, go in for sports, organize different parties and festivals.

For this lesson you have prepared your own projects. As far as I know, you worked hard, collected a lot of information and a lot of facts for your projects. The first group will tell our guests about our school, school day and school subjects.

2. Первая группа защищает свой проект.

P1: We study at school №9. We are in the 8th form. Our lessons begin at I or 2 o’clock p.m. We have 5 or 6 lessons every day. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes. After each lesson we have a break. It lasts 5 or 10 minutes. During the break we have a rest, we talk and play games. We have dinner at 3 o’ clock in the school canteen. We have many interesting subjects. Sometimes we write essays, take tests, learn poems by heart, do some projects.

Some of our tests are “multiple-choice” tests, where we have to choose the correct answers to the questions. Some of our tests are “fill in the blank” tests. Sometimes we simply have to give answers to questions. For our History test we have to answer some questions about Russian history. We usually have much homework and it takes us several hours to do it. Our school day ends at 6 or 7 o’ clock.

P2: We have 15 subjects in the 8th grade. They are Russian, Literature, Maths, Physics, English, Biology, Drawing, Chemistry, etc. I think that all subjects are interesting. Every day we have 4, 5 or 6 lessons. Wednesday is our longest school day, because we have 6 lessons and we come home at 8 p.m. Wednesday is a very difficult day, because we have 2 very difficult subjects. They are Geometry and Chemistry. Friday is the easiest day, because we have only 4 lessons and come home early.

Have a look at our time-table.

We have 4 lessons on Friday and 5 lessons on Saturday. We have 6 lessons on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. My favorite day is Friday, because we have English and Biology. To my mind, Biology is the most interesting subject because it is very important and necessary for life. We study different plants and animals. We have lessons not only in the room. We have outdoor classes, too.

I think Literature is also a very interesting subject, because we read and learn many beautiful poems, interesting stories and we learn many facts about poets and writers.

I like English very much. It is nice to be able to speak English, to read English books about English-speaking countries and to communicate with my fiends in English.

In my opinion, Algebra is the most difficult subject at school, because it is difficult to solve algebraic equation.

Our main task is to study well. I am sure if we work hard and do all our hometasks well the subjects won’t be difficult, they will be interesting and enjoyable.

P3: (показывает опорную схему школы) The number of our school is nine. It is in Ovchinnikov Street. There are 900 students at our school. Our school building is not very new, but it is nice. There is a schoolyard around it. There are flower beds and trees near the school. The flowers are really very beautiful in summer and in autumn. Students and teachers take care of the flowers. To the right of the school there is a big stadium. Sometimes we have physical training lessons there.

Behind the school there is a fruit garden. In summer and in spring we work there: plant many kinds of vegetables and flowers. Last summer we made a beautiful lake in the garden. I think all the students and teachers like our garden very much.

Our school has got three floors. On the ground floor there are some classrooms, a workshop, a gym, a music class and the headmistress’s room. On the first floor there are also some classrooms, a teacher’s room, a dinning room, a hall and a dentist’s room. On the second floor there are 7 classrooms, a library, a school museum, a computer class. We like our school. We get a good education at our school.

P4: Our school has got many classrooms. We have got 2 English classrooms and classrooms for all the other subjects. They are big, light and beautiful. But the most beautiful classrooms is the English classroom. Its number is 16. It is really very nice. There are 3 large windows in the room, so it is very light. On the window-sills there are many beautiful flowers. The teacher’s table is placed not far from the blackboard. There are 15 new desks and many comfortable chairs in the room. On this wall we can see many pictures of the sights of London. Look at that wall. There we can find some interesting information about English-speaking countries, holidays, famous writers, poets. Also, we can read some advice: How to learn English, how to prepare for the exams. In the bookcases there are many textbooks and books by English and American writers. We enjoy reading them. We like to study in our English classrooms. They are beautiful, aren’t they?

P5: We have some school rules. We try to follow them. The students who follow school rules have only good marks.

1. Always give every task your best effort.

2. Cooperate with other students in the class.

3. Work quietly at the desk.

4. Raise your hand if you have something to say or need help.

5. Listen carefully.

6. Follow directions.

7. Respect others. Be kind with your words and actions.

8. Be attentive.

9. Be positive.

10. Do all your hometasks every day.

Remember the proverb: Practice makes perfect! If you follow these rules you will be a brilliant student!

Участникам первого проекта были заданы следующие вопросы:

1) Do you like to take tests? Why?

2) What kind of tests do you prefer?

3) What is your favorite subject? Why?

4) Who doesn’t follow school rules?

5) What sport competitions are held in the gymnasium?

T: The second group will tell us about extracurricular activities.

P1: We want to tell you about extracurricular activities at our school. Our first lesson begins at 1 o’clock. Our last lesson ends at 6 or7 o’clock. So we have extracurricular activities in the morning or in the evening. Many of the students stay at school much longer or they go to school earlier to ask questions, to get extra help or to chat. We go to our homeroom class on Friday. Our homeroom teacher informs us of interesting events. We don’t want the homeroom teachers to prepare homeroom classes. We want to do them ourselves. It is more interesting. Many of the students attend optional courses in Russian, Literature, History, English and Biology. I think it is very useful to take an optional course in English, because English is the most wide-spread language in the world. English is spoken all over the world.

We learn English because we want to read foreign literature in the original, to communicate with people from other countries, to read advertisements, signboards. We understand that we have to learn English in a proper way.

P2: I want to tell you about our school committee. The students have their own “government” at our school. It is called the student committee. Students elect representatives to the Student committee. Each grade elects 2 representatives: one boy and one girl. They get together and make suggestions about changes in school rules and organize dances and parties. Not long ago there was a selfgovernment day. Yakupova Gulnara acted as the “principal” of our school. Some students of the 10th and 11th grades were “teachers”. That day was very interesting. I think all the students liked that day.

P3: After the lessons drama students rehearse for school plays. Other students prepare and organize different parties, dances and other school activities. There are many things our students do besides attending classes in maths, science, language, history. In October we had a wonderful party. We call it the Autumn ball. We prepared it very well. We did the programme “News”. Adel was the leader of our group. Dina was the correspondent. We danced, played different games. The most exciting thing for our students now is that the year is almost over. Soon we shall have a New Year Party. We began to prepare for it about a month ago. It is our favourite holiday.

P4: The day is only half over for athletes, who stay for practice. Sport is very important in our life. It is very popular among young people. Many people do morning exercises, jog in the morning and go to sport clubs. There are some popular kinds of sports in our country: football, volleyball, hockey, gymnastics, skiing, skating and wrestling. Athletics is one of the most popular kinds of sports. It includes running, jumping and others.

The 27th Olympic Games were held in September . They were in Ausralia. 200 countries took part in the Games. Our athletes won the second place. They won 32 gold medals, 28 silver medals and 28 bronze medals.

P5: Sport is very popular in our class. We know that good health is above wealth. We like physical training lessons. We have these lessons twice a week. We play volleyball, basketball, run and jump. There is a stadium near our school and we often go in for sports in the open air. A lot of different competitions are held at our school, many pupils take part in them. Some pupils attend different sport sections. Tukbayev Kostya goes in for wrestling. Gaisin Arthur goes in for football. He has been attending this section for 5 years. He took part in the competitions in Kumertau and Salavat. Ormbayev Rinat and Pikhtovnikov Tolya go in for archery. They attend this section 3 times a week.

Tolya has been attending this section for 8 years already. He has good results. Tolya and Rinat took part in the competitions in Birsk and other cities of our republic.

Many students from our school go in for sports. They have good results. We have invited a girl from another grade to our lesson. Now I want to interview her.

  • Good afternoon!

  • Afternoon!

  • Of course, you may.

  • My coach is Shalopin.

  • Why do you go in for sport?

  • I go in for sport, because I want to be strong, healthy and beautiful. And it is very enjoyable.

  • Did you take part in the competitions?

  • Yes, I did.

  • Thank you! I wish you all the best.

T: Last year we organized an English party, devoted to the great American writer Mark Twain. Some students told stories about Mark Twain and others dramatized some scenes from the book “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”. Now we would like you to see one of the scenes from this book. It is called “Tom doesn’t want to go to school”.

Участникам второго проекта были заданы следующие вопросы:

1) What optional courses do you attend?

2) Who are the members of the Student Committee from your grade?

3) Do you like to organize parties? Why?

4) What is your favorite kind of sport?

5) Which of the Russian sportsmen do you like best?

6) Why do you go in for sports?

T: The third group will tell you about libraries, books and some writers.

P1: Let’s have a talk about libraries and books. Books are very important in our life. I think we can’t live without them. Whatever you do, wherever you go, you always need a good friend and a teacher. This friend and teacher for you is a good book. There are a lot of books in our country. But we can’t buy all the books. So we go to the library. Libraries are very important in our life. You can go there if you want to take out a book and read it at home. What is a library?

It is a big, light room. There are many bookcases and bookshelves with a lot of books on them. You can see novels, poems, books on history, geography in the library. Adventure books are very popular. There is a reading room in the library. There you can read books, newspapers, magazines.

In our town there are 5 city libraries. 20 students of our grade go to the city libraries.

P2: Every school has got a library. A school library is a collection of textbooks and books for reading. Pupils go to our school library to take out books, to look through some new magazines and to prepare for a report. 18 students of our grade go to the school library. We go there 2 or 3 times a week. But there is no reading-room there, so we can’t read books in the library. Now our school library has got a lot of textbooks, books and dictionaries. There are 62.000 books and textbooks in the library. 1.100 students and teachers go to our school library. We can find many books by the greatest writers and poets there. Many teachers go to the school library too. We like to take out books from the school library. We know that reading is to the mind that exercise is to the body. I am fond of reading. I have got a very good collection of books at home. I have got different books, for example, fiction and historical novels. But I go to our city and school libraries, too. I like to read fantastic stories best of all.

P3: I like to read books very much. I have got a very good collection of books at home. I have got many books about animals and birds, about different countries. I think many people can say that their hobby is reading, because we learn when we read books. I have already read many books. Some of them are easy to read and some are difficult. My favorite books are about animals. This month I have read the book “The Nils’s Fantastic Trip with Wild Geese”. The author of the story is Selma Lagerliof. I like this book very much. The action takes play on the way to Laplandia. The main character is a boy. His name is Nils. He is 12 years old. He was a bad boy, he had only poor marks at school, he didn’t like animals. To my mind, that trip influenced him greatly. And he becomes a good boy. The story is very enjoyable.

P4: I want to tell you about my favourite writer. He is William Shakespeare. He was one of the greatest and most famous writers. He was born in 1564 in Stratford-on-Avon. It was a small English town then. William was sent to the local grammar school. When the boy studied at school he had no free time. William liked to go to the forest and to the river Avon. At that time many actors and actresses used to come to Stratford-on-Avon. William liked to watch them. He decided to become an actor. He began to write plays too. His plays were translated into many languages and they made him a very popular man. The most popular plays are “Othello”, “King Lear”, “Hamlet”, “Romeo and Juliet”. He produced 37 plays. He wrote a lot of poetry. His poems are well known. Millions of people admire his plays and poems. I like the play “Hamlet” best of all, because it is very interesting. The main character is a very beautiful and clever man.

P5: A book (by Adelaid Love)

A book, I think is very like

A little golden door,

That takes me into palaces

Where I’ve never been before.

Or countries strange and far.

And, best of all, the golden door

Always stands ajar.
