Sport plays a big role in our life. Many people do sport in our country. They want to stay healthy. Sport is a good mean of struggling with stress.
In my opinion sport is important for healthy free time. Sport also makes people strong and prepares a lot of joy.
Some people participate in sports, others prefer watching them on TV. It is known that walking for an hour is healthier than irregular participation in any active physical activities. To keep fit some people join special classes or take part in aerobics or yoga, do some kind of training in a gym. Others play football, badminton, volleyball, tennis.

Speaker 1.
Some people can’t understand what I get out of doing puzzles. They say: “Why don’t you do something more productive”? or “Why do you spend so much time on something you are just going to take apart?”
But what they don’t understand is that doing puzzles can improve your memory as well as your concentration. You’re imagining the pieces you have left and where each one might go. It is impossible to do a puzzle and not think about it constantly.
And now I’ve come across an online jigsaw puzzle site which has made it even more fun for me. On this site you can choose the level of difficulty from a simple 6- piece- cut to a challenging 247- piece- cut. Also, you can unload your photos and make them into jigsaw puzzles that you share with others. But the best thing is that you can communicate with others by sending them puzzle postcards or even have puzzle competitions.
Speaker 2.
I’ve always loved paper aeroplanes. I’m fascinated by their ability to fly, and by the force that keeps them up in the air. I even have some problems at school as my pastime was sometimes disruptive. But I didn’t mean to interfere with the class, I just wanted to make a better plane that could fly very high and go a longer distance.
Recently I learned that in The Guinness Book of Records, there is a record for time aloft for paper aeroplanes. I started looking for more information on the Internet and found a site organized by Ken Brackburn, a person who, like me, is also obsessed with paper aeroplanes. In 1983, his set his first Guinness Record and reset it several times after that. He also wrote a book about making paper aeroplanes. His hobby led him to his current profession as an aeronautical engineer.
I like the site because it not only gives you some practical advice on how to build paper aeroplanes but it also helps you see that you are not alone in your hobby and that there are other people who take it just as seriously as you do.
Speaker 3.
It might seem crazy but my hobby is bending metal forks. I learned how to do this from an Internet site which gives detailed instructions on the process. What I actually wanted was to impress my friends by doing something unusual and funny. It really worked. Strangely, it doesn’t work all the time and I can’t really explain what my success depends upon.
I think some of the sculptures you can make from forks are pretty cool, they can look like scorpions and sometimes like people. I took pictures of some of these sculptures and put them on the walls in my room. I like having friends round to show these photos to them because people usually can’t believe it’s really possible.
Speaker 4.
I’m really into Tai chi. It’s an excellent variation of the martial arts. It does have a philosophical element that I don’t always agree with, but I enjoy the physical exercises that are, in fact, very slow and very controlled martial arts moves.
I’m not really that into team sports, but that doesn’t mean I avoid teams. I decided to look into some debating societies and try that out. I found it can be very stimulating to think on my feet, develop an argument with very little lead- time, and present it all in a short fixed period of time. This I’m supposed to do while supporting my team-mates and building the platform for the next presenter. This process did not come easily to me, but I managed to become moderately proficient at it. I actually ended up doing well enough in public speaking to win an international exchange visit from the local Lion’s club.
Speaker 5.
My hobby is surfing the net and finding out about interesting and unusual things. I believe it makes me a more interesting person. Last week I came across a site created by the Secret Society of Happy People. At first I thought it was a joke, but it turned out to be a real life society that was formed in 1998. The idea behind it is to encourage people to express happiness and discourage those who don’t like hearing happy news. I thought it was a really great idea because what we keep hearing on the news every day is mostly bad. The site gives people a chance to talk about the happiest moments in their lives, vote for the happiest events, inventions and social changes in the world , and even take part in some campaigns organized by the members of this society, it’s amazing how much you can learn about the word today from the Internet!

The final week before exams means it’s time to study, eat too much, or too little, and perform some odd rituals. At exam time, students all over the world try almost anything that may bring them good luck. In Japan, a traditional meal before exams includes fried pork with rice. It was believed to bring an extra element of luck. At the moment, Kit Kat has become a lucky exam charm in this country.
The name Kit Kat was invented in Britain in the 30s of the 20th century and this chocolate bar has become one of the best- selling chocolate bars in many countries. Its advertising slogan “Have a break”, have a Kit Kat has been translated into many different languages.
Why has it become so popular among teenagers I Japan? Actually, the name Kit Kat in Japanese sounds close to “kitto katsu” that can be translated as “I hope you will win”. This expression is used by students to wish each other luck before exams.
Now the makers of the chocolate are trying hard to meet the demand for Kit Kat in Japan, because the country’s students believe it will help them pass exams. Thousands of students and their parents buy this bar for exam days. Even those who never eat chocolate often have a Kit Kat in their bags when they sit exams. Whatever works, right?

A tricky question
Computer color accuracy
How color behaves in relation to other colors
Brands and color are inextricably linked because color offers an instantaneous method for conveying meaning and message without words. The colors of football team uniforms are an example of branding images. But sometimes the colors are horribly wrong. For example, the colors of Wyoming’s football uniforms were cited as one of the worst in college football. Why do you think brown is such a tough color to accept as a sports uniform? It isn’t the most powerful color of the spectrum. It’s as dependable and it lacks energy.
A color circle, based on red, yellow and blue, is traditional in the field of art. Sir Isaac Newton developed the first circular diagram of colors in 1966. Since then, scientists and artists have studied and designed numerous variations of this concept. Differences of opinion about the validity of the format over another continue to provoke debate. In reality, any color circle or color wheel which presents a logically arranged sequence of pure hues has merit.
Red appears more brilliant against a black background and somewhat duller against the white background. In contrast with blue- green, it exhibits brilliance. Notice that the red square appears larger on black than on other background colors.
The answer to the question – “Are black and white colors?”- is one of the most debated issues about color. Ask a scientist and you’ll get a reply based on physics: “Black is not a color, white is a color”. Ask an artist or a child with crayons and you’ll get another: “Black is a color, white is not a color”. (Maybe!)
You could say that most computers are color blind on the World Wide Web. No one is seeing the same colors. Although some see colors better than others, color accuracy poses a real challenge. However, there are a number of things you can do to help you see colors better. For example, you can adjust your brightness and intensity controls on your monitor.
Most blues convey a sense of trust, loyalty, cleanliness and understanding. On the other hand, this color has different meanings in different countries. For example, Greeks believe that blue wards off the evil eye. Dark blue is the color of mourning in Korea. The god Krishna has blue skin. Shades of blue are described as shallow or deep instead of light or dark in China.
Amazingly the human eye can distinguish 17 million different colours. Our eyes have red, green and blue receptors that detect electromagnetic waves; and these are interpreted by the brain as colours. The associations we have with color are formed as a result of psychological, cultural and historical reasoning. Within the brain, visual is our dominant sense as it takes up 40% of our brain space, compared to just 8% for touch and 3% for hearing. Therefore color is an important part of our visual experience.

Internet
Интернет
It’s hard to imagine our lives without Internet nowadays. It has become an important part of every person’s life. It seems that Internet has created a whole new history. It has drastically changed everything around. Computers were also an important invention, but Internet is better than any other type of information. Besides, it’s not only used for information, but also for global communication. Originally, Internet was a military experiment in the USA of 60-s. But soon it became clear that everyone in the world can use it. Since the time of Internet appearance, many other media sources became unnecessary. From one side, it’s great to have everything right here online, from the other side, it’s a shame that people have stopped reading paper books and newspapers. That’s because all books or prints can be found online, as well as all films and programs. One of the obvious advantages of Internet is its efficiency. You can find the information you’re looking for in 5 seconds. Just google it and here is the answer. It is very convenient for students, professionals, experts and all other people. In spite of all the good sides that Internet has, there are some drawbacks. First of all, they are viruses, which can be very dangerous for any computer. That’s why it’s good to have reliable anti-virus software installed. Other minus is the violent content. As well as on TV, there is a lot of violence and cruelty online. Nevertheless, every day millions of people turn on their computers and start surfing the worldwide net, because it’s the easiest and quickest way to stay informed.
