The aim of the lesson: to develop speaking abilities on the theme Travelling.

The objectives of the lesson:

  1. Educational: to activate listening and acting skills, to revise the grammar material Past Simple tense, to study the new words.

  2. Developing: to develop communicative skills and abilities, logical thinking, to improve reading, writing, speaking, listening and speaking comprehension skills through doing lots of tasks.

  3. Brining up: to motivate pupils’ interest in learning English, to bring up a sense of patriotism.

The type of the lesson: mixed lesson.

The form of the lesson: a travelling lesson.

The methods of the lesson: Brainstorming, a pair work, individual work, demonstration, critical thinking.

Visual aids: interactive board, presentations, e-book.

Today we have an unusual lesson. We shall visit London. Do you like to travel?

We’ll fly to London by plane and there we shall visit the most famous sights of the

capital. But our tour has got many tasks and you must do each task.

Ok, now let’s begin our trip. Take your tickets and take your places on the board of

our plane. (plane, tickets). Close your eyes and imagine our trip.

The Houses of Parliament is a long grey building with towers. The large clock in one of the towers is Big Ben. It is the name of the clock and the bell of the clock tower. You can hear the sound of Big Ben every hour in London. The clock got its name after Sir Benjamin Hall. He was a tall man, whose nickname was Big Ben).

  1. Trafalgar Square

It is the center of London. Some people say it is the most beautiful place in London. In the middle of the square stands a tall column. It is a monument to Admiral Nelson. It is the favourite place of tourists.

  1. St. Paul’s Cathedral

It is one of the greatest English churches. The famous English architect Sir Christopher Wren built it in the 17th century. It is a beautiful building with many columns and towers.
