Ex. 1.15. Read the conversation between an architect and a client about the location of rooms and other areas in the Egyptian house and translate it into Russian.

EGYPTIAN HOUSE

Client: Could you explain the drawings to me, please?

Architect: Certainly. With great pleasure. Let’s start.

Client: What does the first drawing represent?

Architect: This drawing represents the ground floor plan of the house. And what about that one? What does

it show?

Client: That drawing is the plan of the first floor. And these ones?

Architect: These drawings are longitudinal and transverse sections through the house. This is what you would see if you cut the house in half and looked at it from the side.

Client: Oh I see. The entrance to the house must be here but what are these spaces used for on the ground floor?

Architect: Well, as you go through the entrance, there is a toilet on the right. There is a stable with access from the courtyard in the center of the house.

Client: 1 see. Does the courtyard have a roof? Is that right?

Architect: Yes, that’s quite "font-size: 13pt">The staircase leads from the courtyard to the first floor. Now look at the plan of the first floor. It represents the open roof terrace and a bedroom.

Client: Is there a bedroom on the ground floor? We can see a bed shown in the room below the roof terrace.

Architect: That’s quite right. The bedroom is used in the winter and the bed on the first floor is used in the summer.

Client: What room is next to the winter bedroom?

Architect: This is the kitchen.

The house is a single-story building with a square-shaped plan. It contains seven rooms. The entrance leads into a hall. On the left of the hall is the living room and beyond that is the dining area. The kitchen is adjacent to the dining area. A terrace is situated outside the living room. A toilet is in the center of the house. Access to the toilet is from the hall.
