Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan
Astana was founded in 1830. Since October 1997 Akmola has become a new capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Later on it got its present name Astana.
Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan. It occupies the north - western part of the Sary Arka, on the river Ishim.
Astana is a modern growing city, a political, financial, economic, scientific and socio - cultural centre of the state. In 1999 Astana was awarded with the medal and little of City of Peace by UNESCO
There are many places of interest in Astana: the Central Square the Republic Avenue, the Palace of Youth and the Bridge across the Ishim River, the Reginal Museum of Fine Arts and others.
From everywhere you can see Baiterek, the symbol of prosperity and happiness.
Almaty is the cultural center of Kazakhstan
Almaty is one of the most beautiful cities of Kazakhstan. It is a former capital of the country and one of the nicest cities in whole Central Asia. It’s situated at the foot of the Tien-Shan ridges and many people call it “a garden city”.
Almaty is a sunny and green city with wide streets, numerous parks, gardens, fountains, and beautiful architecture. The city is full of interesting places and millions of tourists visit it every year. One of the most famous sights is the Republic Square, which is the central square of the city.
The City Hall, the President’s Southern Residence and the television center are also situated near here. East of the square one can find the Central State Museum. This museum is quite popular among the city visitors. Nearly 120,000 exhibits present the history and culture of Kazakhstan in four exhibition halls.
Another attractive museum is the Museum of Kazakh Folk Instruments. Central Bazaar is another Almaty sight. It is also known as the Green Bazaar. The city is also full of beautiful mosques, cathedrals, theatres, parks and gardens.

VIII Working with Posters
Almaty is our hometown and of course we like it most of all. There a lot of sightseeings and places of interest in Almaty. Now I offer you to work with porters. The first group prepares the poster about Parks in Almaty, the second group prepares the poster about museums in Almaty. You have 10 minutes for preparing, please begin your work.
Parks
The central recreation park
There are 2 parks in Almaty. It is located at the end of Gogol Street . The first trees for the park were brought from the Chu Valley.
It is the most popular park. Every day it is visited by hundreds visitors from different parts of Kazakhstan and from the city.
In the park there is a stadium, a cinema, a lot of bars and cafes. The most beautiful flowerbeds can be found here too. It is the best plays to spend hot summer days.
The 28 Panfilov’s Guardsmen park
The park is located just across from the Otrar Hotel in Gogol Street too. The park has Glory memeorial with its Eternal Flame.
The flame is the popular stopping sport for wedding parties. Moreover it is famous for its fir trees. In every tree you can see jumping squrrels that look at you waiting something to eat.
In sunny days it is likable place for children feeding pigeons.
The park is named after the name of 28 Panfilov’s Guardsmen, that were from Almaty and devoted their lives on the 2-nd World War.
Museums
There are numerous museums in Almaty. The most important of them the Central State Museum of Kazakhstan. It was built in 1986. The Central State Museum is the home of the Republic’s richest collection. The history of Kazakhstan comes alive in 1200 000 items.
1.Kasteyev Museum of Fine Arts
The museum is named after Abilkhan Kasteyev the first Kazakh professional artist, the museum`s 14 halls present 1500 works of fine and applied arts.
2.Archeological Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan.
In front of the museum is the Monument to Zhambyl – the famous Kazakh poet. There are a lot of items on Archeology. It will be useful for everybody of us to visit it.
3.Ykhlas Republican Museum of Folk Musical Instruments.
The Museum was founded in 1980.The museum has about 60 different types of Kazakhstan folk musical instrument.
4.Books Museum
The Museum was founded in 1977. It`s expositions show the history of the development of Kazakh written language, book-printing and modern publishing in Kazakhstan.
5.Geological Museum
This museum presents collection of the minerals and rocks which occur in Kazakhstan`s land.
