STAGES OF THE LESSON
Good morning, dear children! I’m glad to see you at our lesson!
Let’s greet our guests! Nice to see you!
Now let’s start working.
COMMON PHRASES:
What date is it today?
What day is it today?
Who’s absent today?
Hope you are well!
Now you are ready to get down to our work.
Our topic is – “What is Hot with the Young Generation?” At the last lesson you’ve learnt more information about things the young’ re interested in, we continued studying the ideas of different subcultures, you know their names, manners and interests (it was their home task to revise the ideas of different subcultures). I believe it was such an interesting activity. But isn’t it true that the names of some subcultures are often connected with violence?
So our problem for this lesson is – “Are all the Young Violent?”
So, your first task is to answer this question –
What words come into your mind when you hear the word violence?
(Students make their suggestions, fill in empty spaces on the blackboard and argue them)
…
Oh, well done! But do you know that even the media often associates youth culture with something threatening and violent.
The next task will be this one.
Let’s imagine such a situation. You are all in a library now, and have to read some articles. They are the opinions of persons of different ages.
Your task is to find out whom these opinions belong to and to ask all the questions.(ex.2 1) A B C, p. 86-87)
You can help each other.
Let’s make Home groups. Each of you has his own text. Look through them (because reading them was their home task) and answer all the questions to your texts. Work during … minutes.(Students worked on this texts at home)
…
Now your time is up.
Well, the next stage of our work is like this - you have to unite into Expert groups. There you should discuss your texts, explain them to those who have some problems. So, do the best you can. You have … minutes to do this task.
…
Time’s up. Hope, you are the experts in your texts now. And the last but one task.
Right now it’s time to come back into Home groups. You should share all the known information with your group mates and help them in asking the questions.
Now your time is up. Let’s work together. Now you should answer my questions, do exercise 2.2)3) p. 87, and express your opinion (which arguments do you approve or disapprove of?)
…
You’ve successfully done this task.
But we know that not only the appearance and manners tell us about different subcultures, but also their music does. There is such an opinion that some music bands are dangerous. Your next task is very interesting.
You will listen to some musical pieces and decide what young people listen to such kinds of music and tell us your own opinion about this music and subculture.(Using phrases ex. 3 1), p. 88)
…
Well, you’ve revised some subcultures, but not all of them. But to help you in making your projects we have to revise some more information.
Right now you will see with your own eyes representatives of some subcultures and guess who they are. Match two columns after listening to them and suggest if they are violent or not.
…
And now our lesson is coming to its end.
Your marks are…Well done, etc.
I believe your home task will help you to prepare for making projects. It will be – ex. 3 3)4) p. 88-89.
And as the finishing point of our lesson I invite you to our blackboard.
Express your attitude towards this lesson and topic. You all have three pictures. Express your mood, please.
I see your happy smiles and think you are ready to be kind but not aggressive, tolerant but not violent.
Thank’s for your hard work and efforts. Bye- bye.
Don’t worry, Be happy!!!
