THEME :” AT THE SUPERMARKET”

Grade: 3

Type of lesson: Competition

The objectives of the lesson:

  1. Developing the speech habits on the theme;

  2. Developing students reading, speaking, writing skills.

  3. Improving the habits in group work

Aids: a cash-register, money, papers, some clothes, pictures of food, toys, cards, markers.

  1. Organization moment:

Today we revise the diologues, some vocabulary. You should build your skills in speaking, understanding, writting.

Let’s meet two teams: Blue and Yellow. Let’s begin our competition.

Task I : Answering: You should answer my questions:

  1. What does it means “seller”?

  2. What does it mean “ customer”?

  3. Where does the customer put food into?

  4. Who sits at the cash-register?

  5. What does the cash-register have?

  6. Who works at the butchers?

  7. What polite words does the seller say?

  8. What does the supermarket have?

Task II: Match and read: There is the board with the sheets of papers. Each team has the marker, one by one go to the board and draw the line, then read. Give your word-combinations

  1. A kilo of a) bread

  2. A bottle of b) chocolate

  3. A bar of c) honey

  4. A loaf of d) cheese

  5. A dozen of e) lemonade

  6. A box of f) eggs

  7. A bunch h) grapes

Task III: 1) “ Name the things”: Choose the shapes: hexigan or pentigan.

Blue team choose “hexigan” – be ready to name the dairy products.

Yellow team choose “ pentigan” – be ready to name the meat products.

Dairy products are milk, cheese, curd, cream, condensed milk

Meat products are mutton, pork, force meat, chicken, beef, horse meat

2) Answer the questions: What does the meat cutter use to cut meat?

Where do the dairy products keep?

Where do we buy meat?

Task IV:” Who is faster?” There is the box with some things. On the wall you see the name some departments: “Toy”,” Clothes”,” Shoes”,” Food”. I name the certain thing, you find it and put it in the right place.

A cap, a can of olives, sandals, a bottle of oil, the toy ball, pair of socks, a jar of coffee, a jar of jam, a bottle of juice, a pack of noodles, a can of mushrooms, T-shirt, cheese, a pack of butter.
