по теме «Continents and countries».

Тема: “Travelling around the world”.
(«Путешествие вокруг света»)
Задачи:
1) Повторить лексику по теме «Континенты и страны».
2) Активизировать навыки употребления двойного союза neither…nor.
3) Повторить употребление изученных грамматических времён.
4) Развивать навыки диалогической речи.
5) Расширять кругозор учащихся; обогатить знания об англоязычных странах.
6) Воспитывать уважение к культуре и языку страны изучаемого языка.
Оборудование: политическая карта мира, флаги англоязычных стран и России, карточки с заданиями, магниты.
(Группа заранее делится на две команды, учащиеся получают домашнее задание придумать название команды и подготовить представление команды).
Ход урока
1. Оргмомент.
Вступительное слово учителя.
Dear friends! Today we are going to have an interesting journey round the world. Your task is to visit every of six continents and to do it as quick as possible.
The first task for you is to find out where you are going to start from.
Guess what country I am speaking about.
-This country is situated in the north-west of Europe.
-It is an island state.
-It is one of the smallest countries in the world.
-This country has four parts.
-Its name is rather long but it has a shorter name.

(Команда, первая угадавшая название страны, начинает игру. Учитель ставит магнитик на карту)
Well, you’ve guessed! So, our journey starts in the UK. What continent is it?
2. Повторение лексики по теме «Страны и континенты».
To go further you have to do one more task. Match the flags and the countries, name their capitals, say people of what nationalities live there.
(Учащимся даются флаги Австралии, Великобритании, Канады, России, США, Новой Зеландии. Команда, правильно выполнившая задание, получает право отгадать название следующей страны, в которую они отправятся)
Guess what country we are going to visit now.
It is situated both in Europe and Asia. It is the largest country in the world. English isn’t its national language but it is very popular among people there.

3. Развитие навыков аудирования и чтения.
Our next step is reading and listening. One of your rivals is reading a small text about one of the continents. You are listening. Your task is to name the continent which is described. If you guess right, you will go there.
(По одному представителю от команды берут тексты с описанием континентов, получают 1 мин., чтобы потренироваться читать тексты и читают их для соперников).
(It is the smallest continent in the world. There is only one country here. Its name is the same as the name of the country. There are many unusual animals on this continent. When it is winter in Russia, it’s summer on this continent. What continent is it?)
(This continent is in the south of the Earth but it is the coldest continent. There is ice and snow here. The continent is white. There are not many animals here. You can see whales in the ocean and penguins on the blocks of ice. What continent is it?)
4. Активизация навыков употребления двойного союза neither…nor.
If you want to continue travelling, you have to do the next task.
Correct the statements using neither…nor.
1. People in Canada speak both Russian and German.

2. Both Scotland and Wales are situated in the USA.
2. Both football and baseball are Russian games.

4. Both the national flag of Russia and the national flag of Canada are black, red and yellow.

The task is well done and we are going to the continent which is very hot. There are more than 40 countries there. Sometimes it is called “’black continent”. What continent is this?

It’s clear that the last continent we haven’t visited yet is North America.
It’s time to return home. To do it we have to do one more task. Let’s speak.
