развитие речевых способностей;

развитие мотивации к дальнейшему овладению иноязычной культурой.
Воспитательные задачи:
воспитание уважения и доброго отношения к стране изучаемого языка и ее народу, к его истории и традициям.
Практические задачи:
отработка навыков диалогической и монологической речи, а также навыков аудирования по теме «London»;
актуализация и проверка знаний учащихся, выявление степени усвоения учебного материала.
Основной акцент – страноведческий;
учащиеся должны владеть информацией о главном городе Великобритании, знать элементы его истории, иметь представление о его памятниках и достопримечательностях.
Оборудование урока:
тематические картинки по теме «Лондон»;
опорные таблицы для монологического высказывания;
письмо Дональда из Шотландии;
карточки с названиями достопримечательностей Лондона.

The theme of our lesson is «London».
We shall speak about the capital of Great Britain, London, its people, its history and its places of interest.

Teacher: Oh, thank you. Now, what have we got here?
Oh, it*s a letter from Scotland. Listen to me. After listening be ready to answer my questions. Be very carefull.

Many people write letters to friends in other countries. They often write about their families and homes or about the places they live in. Here*s Don*s letter to you.

Dear friends,
My name is Donald but my friends call me Don.
We live in Scotland, in a small house far from the town centre. Our town is small, but there is a theatre in it, in the main square.
The streets in my town are not very wide, but they are very beautiful, with a lot of flowers and trees. Our house is in the old part of the town. You can see an old tower there. It was built many centuries ago. The tower is very high and there is a large bell in it. The tower has become our town museum. If you visit this place, turn to the left and the road will lead you to a beautiful small church.
There is a nice bridge in our town too. It is in the new part of the town. The streets are wide here. There are many cinemas and shops and some monuments in this part.
I have already been to many places of interest in our town and can show them all to you.
If you have never seen Scotland come and stay with us.

You have read some very interesting things about this city, you have never been to London, but you have already known very much about it, and now we shall remember some facts from the history of London.

How many people were there in Londinium by the year 400?
How many bridges were there over the river until 1749?
Did it look very strange? Why?

And now we shall speak about one of the most interesting facts from the history of London, about the Great Fire.
I*ve got a surprise for you, children.
I*ve invited an eyewitness of the Great Fire of London. And now she is here. Let*s invite her.

How do you do?
Let me introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Smith. I*m the baker*s wife. I lived in 1666, the year of the Great Fire of London. You may ask any questions about this fact.

Imagine that you are in London, and you want to visit some places of interest. Choose a partner and talk with him or her how to get to any place of interest…
