Dear friends, today we’ll learn how to say things which everybody knows and thinks they are right, but we don’t agree with. We will also learn some new words and phrases which will help us to speak about schools in Britain and in Russia. Of course, you already know some of such words. I’ll show you it’s not so difficult to speak about school life.
Actualizing previously taught vocabulary. 8-9 minutes
Try to answer my questions. Tell everything you can and make your answers as full as possible.
Do you go to school every day?
How many lessons do you usually have? What lessons do you have on Wednesday?
What are your favourite subjects? Why do you like them?
What subjects are easy/ difficult/ interesting for you? Why?
What foreign languages do pupils study in Russia? Do you know English well?
How many friends do you have at school? Who is your best friend?
What are your classmates good at?
What do you do at school after the lessons are over?
Who is the best pupil in your class? Who is the most popular girl?
Can you choose subjects at our school?
Introducing new lexical items. 3-4 minutes
Here are some new words for you. Let’s learn to read them.
Ex.4 p.113
Listen to the tape and read/repeat after the speaker. Then read aloud/ Ask your classmate to translate into Russian/English.
Consolidating vocabulary. 8 minutes
What can you say about Russian schools? Are there private schools in Russia? What type of school do you study at? Is it a state or a private school? Is it all boys school? Is it a coeducational school? Do you get a scholarship? Do you think there are di fferent types of school in Britain? What are they? What is a boarding school? Do your parents pay money for school? Are schools in Britain expensive?
6. Practice in auding. Assimilating the new material.
Don’t get upset if you can’t answer all the questions.
Let’s listen to Misha and Rob’s talk about British schools and learn more about them.
