Тема урока: What do you read? (Unit 6 Lesson 8).
Цель урока: повышение культурного и образовательного уровня и раскрытие социокультурного потенциала учащихся.
Форма проведения урока: круглый стол
Задачи:
Лингвистический аспект: оперирование изученным ранее языковым материалом по теме; учить выслушивать собеседника и ориентироваться в ситуации общения, уметь использовать речевые клише.
Развивающий аспект: развитие эстетического вкуса, углубление знаний учащихся в области английской литературы.
Воспитательный аспект: учить выслушивать собеседника и ориентироваться в ситуации общения, воспитание уважения к носителям иноязычной культуры, углубление познавательного интереса к предмету, привитие вкуса к чтению.
Оборудование и оформление: стенд с произведениями британских писателей (книги на русском и английском языках), иллюстрации к книгам, раздаточный материал, компьютер, проектор для демонстрации презентаций.

Today we are going to speak about one of the most wonderful things in the world. Well, try to guess what it is. It has no mouth, but speaks. It is not alive, but it can be a good friend. It is not a tree, but it has leaves. What is it? You are right. It’s A BOOK.
Point for discussion 1. A book that is worth burning is worth reading. How do you understand this? Why are books banned or burnt? What is the Index Liborum prohibitorum? Who was Anna Frank? What is her diary about? What genre does her diary belong to?
