Урок английского языка по теме: « Проблемы окружающей среды».Problems of Environment”.


для 7 класса.


Цель учителя: развитие умений чтения с полным пониманием; совершенствование устной речи по теме «Защита окружающей среды»

Цель учащихся: уметь передавать содержание прочитанного, комментировать факты из текста.

Образовательные цели:развитие лексических навыков; развитие навыка монологической речи; совершенствование навыков чтения незнакомого текста с извлечением основной информации.

Развивающие цели: развитие логического мышления; развитие объема памяти, развитие способности к логическому изложению содержания; формирование познавательного интереса к учению; развитие способности осмысливать информационный материал и обобщать приобретенные знания.

Воспитательный аспект:формирование ответственного отношения к природе;воспитание правильного экологического поведения;поддерживать интерес к процессу обучения, пробуждать творческую активность.


Задачи:

развитие умений ориентироваться в письменном тексте на иностранном языке;

преодоление коммуникативного и эмоционального барьера при говорении на английском языке;

приобрести навыки сотрудничества и коммуникации;


активизировать творческие способности учащихся.

  1. Teacher:The theme of our lesson today is “Problems of Environment”. The problems of environment became one of the most important all over the world. What can we do with the global situation in ecology? We must think over and try to help and change the situation. That’s why we’ll try to discuss some environmental problems.

  1. Teacher:There are many problems of environment, you see and I think you understand that some of them are very big and complicated and we can’t decide them. Some problems we can discuss and even decide. I think it’s a rubbish problem.

You all have domestic rubbish at home. What does your family do with rubbish?...Who takes the rubbish out in your family?...Do you try to throw away less rubbish?...Do you know about recycling?...What have you read about it?...What products are recycle in Russia?...(Students answer the questions).

You are going to read a text about environment problems caused by rubbish.Do you think to throw it away is the only way to get rid of it? When does packaging become litter?(students say they don’t know exactly, students make predictions).

You have to read and understand the texts “Why throw away so much?” and “Packaging” and work in pairs or small groups and “put on your thinking hats”.

Divide into 5 groups and “put on your thinking hats”

Group 1 “An orange hat”: You present facts only.

Group 3 “A yellow hat”: You present positive sides

Group 4 “A black hat”: You present negative sides

Group 5 “A blue hat”: You present conclusions

Можно использовать настоящие разноцветные шляпы, сделанные из бумаги или миниатюрные из цветного картона. Каждой группе предлагается представить информацию, свои впечатления и мысли исходя из цвета шляпы.

Text 1

Many countries bury and forget about millions of tons of rubbish every year. It is known that in one year, a European family with 2 children throws away about 50 kilos of paper (that’s six trees), and about 60 kilos of plastic.

The Green World reports say that in one year the average person throws away: about 70 food cans, 34 cans of cat food and about 70 drink cans.

But we don’t have to throw away all our waste paper, glass, metal and plastic. We can also burn or recycle a lot of it. In fact waste can be wonderful stuff.

Many things that we throw away can still be useful. In fact it’s possible to recycle 80% of domestic rubbish. We can recycle most kinds of paper, glass, metal and plastic. But only 4% of recyclable materials is actually recycled. Recycling is expensive. But it saves trees and energy and protects the environment from pollution.

Text 2

These days, people usually do shopping in supermarkets. Nearly everything is packed in paper or plastic containers. Some of this “packaging”is necessary. It keeps food clean and fresh. But some packaging is unnecessary. It’s just to make the food look better.

Every year in Britain each person produces about 57 kilos of plastic waste.

Disposing of all this plastic is an expensive problem. But that’s not all. Making plastic causes pollution.

Unfortunately, some of this packaging doesn’t reach the bins. It becomes litter instead. Some people simply tear the wrapping off sweets and throw it away. They drop their cigarette packets and cans of drink without a thought.

In the town their litter looks horrible. But fortunately someone clears it away. In the country side, it remains in the fields and on the roadsides unless the people who live near by pick it up. It can kill or hurt animals. Bottles and cans cause cuts, and the animals can eat polythene bags and die, or put their heads in them and suffocate.

You can use comprehension check :

A Answer the questions:

- Do you think throwing rubbish away is the only way to get rid of it? When does packaging become litter?(students answer the questions and check if their predictions were right).

B Develop the ideas:

- We don’t have to throw away all our waste…

- Actually a small percent of recyclable material is recycled…

- Making recycled causes pollution…

- Litter is especially dangerous in the countryside…

(students complete the ideas by adding information from the texts).

(groupwork: students give answers according to their “thinking hats”).
