stop trying, depress, have a good relationship with, continue doing something, criticise, tolerate, meet, start doing (a hobby or a sport)
Geoff never lets things get him down.(depress)
Alice doesn’t give up easily and always gets on with her work in class.(stop trying, continue doing)

Charlie is always getting at me. (criticising)

2. Choose the Key Words that describe each person in Exercise 1.
KEY WORDS:
bad-tempered, cheerful, confident, creative, critical, disorganised, dynamic, generous, hard-working, helpful, honest, insensitive, materialistic, moody, outgoing, patient, persistent, positive, reliable, selfish, shy, sociable, stubborn, sympathetic, tolerant.
Good! Now, let’s read ex. 1, p.76
Describe the people and the places in the photos.
Speculate about the people: how old they are; what they do; where they are from; what they are like as people; what the relationship is between them.
Speculate about what has happened in the past and what could happen in the future.
When you speculate about the photos, interact with your partner (e.g. The boy looks kind, don't you think?).
Discuss your opinions of the people's clothes and decide if you would like to meet them.
Work in pairs. Discuss the photos.
Who are the people?
What is their relationship?
How do you think they feel about each other?
Where are they? What are they doing?
What do you think they are talking about?
Which of the people would you like to meet? Why?
Now, work in pairs again! Look at these photos and make up a short dialogue using questions and parts of them on the blackboard:
the people - family? friends? hobbies and interests? what are they saying or thinking? how are they feeling? the place - country? what sort of town/street/building? what year/season/time of day? does the person come here regularly or is it the first time?
(ученики предлагают свои варианты).
Describing a Person

Stage 1

Summarizing and hometask: Thank you for your attention. Please, write down your homework: Ex 1-3, p. 78. Today we were discussing people, their appearance, character and relationship.
