I want you to read and translate the poem and to guess the theme of today’s lesson.

A poem

The school has doors that open wide,

And friendly teachers wait inside.

Hurry, hurry, let’s go in,

For soon the lesson will begin.

Books and pencils I will need,

When I start to write and read

Lots to learn and lots to do

I like to go to school, don’t you? (слайд 1)

Аnd what is the topic of today’ lesson?

Right you are. Today we are summing up our knowledge and skills on the topic «School Еducation »

Речевая разминка

Now we’ll see if you know proverbs about education.(слайд2)

Read and match the proverbs with their Russian equivalents.

Live and learn.

Learning is an eye in the mind.

It’s never late to learn.

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.

Practice make perfect.

Four eyes see more than two.

A good beginning makes a good ending.

Business before pleasure.

Now we give the floor to our quest Miss Elvina.

You are welcome. Glad to see you. How are you?

-Good morning. Glad to see you. Well, I have recently returned from Great Britain. Do you know what Great Britain is?

-Great Britain is an English speaking country. The capital is London. It’s really beautiful with its parks, gardens, museums, theatres.

-Right you are .But today I’d like to tell you about the system of British education and schools itselves. Well, be attentive you are to answer the questions.

In Great Britain education is compulsory for all children from 5to 16.Many children in Britain attend nursery schools, but they are not compulsory. When children are7 real studying begins.

State schools are free, and schools provide their students with books and equipment for their studies. Boys and girls are taught together in the class. From 7to 11 pupils attend primary school. They are taught reading, writing, arithmetics. They also have music, physical education, art classes. At the age of 11they go to secondary schools .In their timetable you can find: English, Geography, Mathematics, Science, Music, Art etc. There are also private schools. The most famous are: Winchester, Eton, Westminster, Rugby, Harrow. I think it will be interesting to see the “Bell Times ”in one of the schools.

Bell Times

Is it different from ours?

Now answer the questions

-At what age do children start school in Britain?

-Is secondary education compulsory?

-Do boys and girls learn together?

-What types of schools are there in Britain?

Thank you .And now enjoy youselves watching the film. Try to find something new.

What interesting have you found?

Well, thank you.
